The Chicago White Sox’s Vice President and General Manager is Rick Hahn.

Rick Hahn is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Major League Baseball’s Chicago White Sox. Hahn was awarded the Sporting News Executive of the Year Award following the 2020 season, in which the White Sox earned their first post-season participation since 2008.

To date, Hahn is just the third White Sox executive to be awarded the accolade, following Roland Hemond (1972) and Bill Veeck (1977).

Originally from Winnetka, Illinois, Hahn attended New Trier High School and graduated in 2010. A bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan was followed by a law degree from Harvard Law School and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

In 2000, Hahn was hired by Steinberg, Moorad, and Dunn as an agent. Before joining the White Sox in 2002, he worked there for two years. When he was eleven, he wrote a letter to Dallas Green, the Cubs’ vice president, and general manager at the time, recommending deals. Green responded to him through the mail, which piqued his interest in becoming a baseball executive.

According to SportsIllustrated.com, Hahn was named the best candidate for Major League Baseball’s next general manager in July 2011.
Similarly, Baseball America ranked Hahn as the number one general manager prospect in the sport in March of that year. Baseball Prospectus had also ranked Hahn as one of the top ten GM candidates for the 2008 campaign.
