Alex Whittingham is the defensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). He has been with the team since 2020.
He began his career with the Chiefs in 2018 as the team’s defensive assistant coach. Whittingham worked with a linebacker team that had 3.0 sacks and 245 tackles for the bulk of 2020.
In 2019, Whittingham worked with the defensive line, which included Pro Bowl DT Chris Jones and DE Frank Clark, who had 9.0 and 8.0 sacks on the team, respectively.
Throughout the 2018 season, Whittingham worked heavily with outside linebackers, notably fifth-year LB Dee Ford, who was matched for first in the NFL with All-Pro DE J.J. Watt.
He finished with seven forced fumbles and 13.0 sacks. From 2013 through 2017, he was a walk-on with the Utah Utes, earning four letters and appearing in 44 games.
He was a member of the kick return team for the entire 2017 season, and he handled long snaps for the first four games. He was honoured three times as a member of the Pac-12 All-Academic team.
Whittingham was a tight ends coach for his uncle, Freddie Whittingham, and his father, Kyle Whittingham, who was the head coach of the Utah Utes.
