The Buccaneers compete in the National Football League as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference South division.

From the number 5, here are the Best Tampa Bay Buccaneers Starting Quarterback In History

5. Vinny Testaverde

When Testaverde arrived in Florida after winning the Heisman Trophy at the University of Miami, Bucs fans had great hopes for him. It’s safe to say he didn’t meet or exceed the majority of them. He played in the team from 1987 to 1992.

Over six seasons with the Bucs, Testaverde threw for 14,820 yards, which was the most in franchise history at the time he left.

4. Trent Dilfer

Dilfer had one of his best seasons with the Buccaneers in 1997, when he completed 56.2 percent of his throws for 2,555 yards and 21 touchdowns on his way to his only Pro Bowl nomination. He played from 1994 to 1999.

During his six years in Tampa Bay, Dilfer threw for 12,969 yards, good for third on the all-time passing list. Dilfer, on the other hand, falls to fourth place on this list after posting a mediocre. The team’s 500th win (38-38), as well as the touchdown/interception ratio (70 touchdowns versus 80 interceptions).

3. Jameis Winston

Twenty years after Testaverde failed to live up to high standards, Jameis Winston, a fellow first-round pick, didn’t fare much better.

Winston was named to the Pro Bowl after completing 58.3 percent of his passes for little over 4,000 yards and 22 passing touchdowns to go along with six rushing touchdowns in his rookie season.  He played from 2015 to 2019.

2. Doug Williams

After a two-win season in Tampa, Williams was drafted with the 17th overall pick and went on to have three seasons in a Bucs uniform with winning records above 500. The club went 10-6 in his first complete season as a starter.

Williams had a 47.2 completion percentage for 12,648 yards and 73 touchdowns during his career with the Buccaneers, which were impressive stats in the 1970s and 1980s when the NFL was considerably more run-heavy.

1. Johnson Brad

Johnson had probably the most successful run for a quarterback in Tampa Bay history, despite only appearing in 49 games for the Buccaneers.

After leading the Bucs back to the playoffs with a 9-7 record in 2001, he was instrumental in the team’s Super Bowl run in 2002, with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 22:6 during the regular season.

Johnson Brad played from 2001 to 2004. He was even better in the playoffs, throwing for 670 yards and five touchdowns while completing 54.1 percent of his passes. Although the numbers don’t stand out, the 34-year-experience old’s and poise helped the offense stay in check.

Johnson threw for 10,940 yards in four years with the Bucs, good for fifth all-time. Unlike some of the other quarterbacks on this list, he led Tampa Bay to a winning record (26-23) and his 64 touchdowns are tied for fifth all-time.
