David Toub is an assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He is also a former player.
In 1986, Toub started coaching at the University of Texas-El Paso. He worked as a graduate assistant for his first year, then as the strength and conditioning coach for the next two.
Toub then spent nine years as the University of Missouri’s strength and conditioning coach, with Andy Reid coaching the offensive line from 1989 to 1991.
Toub went on to coach the defensive line for three years after that. From 1980 to 1981, Toub was a member of the offensive line at Springfield College, and from 1983 to 1984, he was a member of the offensive line at the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP). Toub obtained his bachelor’s degree from UTEP.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Toub in the ninth round of the 1985 NFL Draft. He was released before the regular season began. Toub later attended two training camps with the Los Angeles Rams in a row but was released before the start of the regular season.
On January 24, 2004, Toub became the special team’s coordinator for the Chicago Bears. Toub signed a three-year agreement with the Bears on February 27, 2007, keeping him under contract until 2009.
