Daniel Allen Campbell (nicknamed “MCDC”) is an American football coach and former tight end from Clifton, Texas, United States who currently serves as the head coach of the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL).
He formerly worked for the New Orleans Saints as an assistant head coach and tight ends coach from 2016 to 2020, as well as the Miami Dolphins as an assistant coach from 2010 to 2015, most recently as the interim head coach and tight ends coach.
Campbell was a member of the Texas football team called A and M in college. He was picked in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the New York Giants and went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints. Campbell made the Super Bowl with the Giants in 2000 as a player.
Texas A&M University is a public university in the state of Texas. He shared the tight end position with Derrick Spiller for the final two seasons. He has 12 receptions for 143 yards (11.9 average) and two touchdowns as a junior.
He started two games in the “B” slot, flanker, one game at split end, and two games at flanker as a senior. He had seven catches for 68 yards, a touchdown, and three special teams tackles.
