Brycen Avery Hopkins (born March 27, 1997) is an American football tight end for the National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams. He attended Purdue University and was a member of the Purdue football team.
Hopkins attended The Ensworth School in Nashville, Tennessee, where he grew up. He began his basketball career and did not play organized football until his junior year. As a senior, he was named Division II-AA All-State.
Hopkins, a two-star prospect according to Rivals.com and a three-star prospect according to 247Sports.com, has committed to Purdue University to play collegiate football. After impressing then-recruiting coordinator Gerad Parker with his physicality in a pickup basketball game, he was awarded a scholarship.
Purdue redshirted Hopkins his freshman year. As a redshirt freshman, he had 10 receptions for 183 yards and four touchdowns and caught three passes for 80 yards and two scores versus Iowa.
Hopkins was Purdue’s second-string tight end as a redshirt sophomore, but he finished with 25 receptions for 349 yards and three touchdowns. Hopkins finished third on the squad with 34 receptions for 583 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt junior.
