Casey was born on Sept. 22, 1984, in Fort Worth, Texas, but was raised in nearby Azle, Texas. He attended Azle High School, where he was a standout quarterback on the football team and pitcher on the baseball team.

James Casey played in the NFL for seven (7) seasons before starting his coaching career.

He was a fifth-round draft pick of the Houston Texans in 2009, and he spent four seasons with them (2009-12) before moving on to the Philadelphia Eagles (2013-14) and Denver Broncos (2015).

He was selected by the Houston Texans in round five of this year’s National Football League (NFL) Draft.

Casey caught three passes for a total of 29 yards in his debut game as a starter, although he did not record a carry. Casey was selected as the starting fullback for the Houston Texans in 2011.

On March 12, 2013, Casey agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $14.6 million contract. On February 19, 2015, the Eagles released Casey from his contract.
