Jon William Embree, an assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League, is an American football coach and former teammate.
He was the head coach at Colorado for a number of years. He was the tight ends coach for the National Football League’s Washington Redskins before that.
Embree is the son of the former Denver Broncos flanker/wide receiver John Embree. Embree was born in Los Angeles and raised in Colorado, graduating in 1983 from Cherry Creek High School in Denver’s suburbs.
Hannah, Taylor, a retired UCLA wide receiver, and Connor, a retired UNLV wide receiver, are the three children of Jon and his wife Natalyn.
How Many Years Did Jon Embree Play In The NFL
He played two seasons in the NFL as a tight end with the Los Angeles Rams before retiring due to injuries. After playing college football at Colorado, he was drafted by the Rams in the sixth round (166th overall) of the 1987 NFL Draft.
So automatically Embree spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and a third season with the Seattle Seahawks before his pro career was cut short due to injury.
Embree formerly coached for the Kansas City Chiefs for three seasons, UCLA for three, the Cleveland Browns for one, and Colorado for ten. Embree went into television broadcasting when his playing career ended, and in 1991, head coach Bill McCartney invited him to volunteer coach for the Buffaloes.
In 1983, Embree was part of McCartney’s first recruiting class as head coach.
