Lamone Yarber is an American football coach and former college player who currently serves as the wide receivers coach for the National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 22, 1963. He spent two seasons in the NFL as a wide receiver for the Washington Redskins, winning Super Bowl XXII in 1986.
Yarber was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in South Central Los Angeles, where he attended Crenshaw High School before moving to the Bay Area. However, even though his physique prevented him from playing varsity football while in high school, he participated in the sport while attending Los Angeles Valley College.
To play for Dennis Erickson, the third-year head coach at Idaho in the Big Sky Conference, he transferred there in 1984. In his senior year of 1985, Yarber won the conference MVP award and led the Vandals to their first conference championship since 1971.
With nearly 1,100 receiving yards and ten touchdowns, Yarber was the Big Sky’s most prolific receiver. Scott Linehan, Tom Cable, and Mark Schlereth, all future NFL head coaches, were teammates on the Palouse.
For two seasons (1986 and 1987), Yarber was a member of the Washington Redskins’ roster.
