Is Josh Lowe Nate Lowe’s Brother?
Yes. Josh and Nate Lowe are siblings. Before Nate was promoted to the High-A Charlotte Stone Crabs, the two were teammates in Bowling Green.
David Nathaniel Lowe is a Major League Baseball first baseman for the Texas Rangers of the American League. He was previously with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Lowe went to Marietta, Georgia’s Pope High School. In 2014, he enrolled at Mercer University and began playing baseball for the Mercer Bears.
For the 2015 season, he transferred to St. Johns River State College, and then to Mississippi State University to play for the Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2016. Louisville Slugger honored him to their Second Team All-American team that year.
Lowe was drafted by the Rays in the 13th round of the 2016 MLB draft, with the 390th overall pick.
He signed with the Hudson Valley Renegades of the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League and made his professional debut in 67 games, batting.300/.382/.437 with four home runs and 40 runs batted in (RBIs).
Tampa Bay selected Lowe, the younger brother of former Rays first baseman Nate Lowe, in the first round (13th overall) of the 2016 draft.
Baseball America dubbed him one of the top athletes in the 2016 draft class, and all of his tools were lauded; some scouts even considered drafting Lowe as a pitcher. His sole flaw was his proclivity for striking out.
