Thomas Townsend is a punter for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He was born on November 12, 1996. (NFL). William R. Boone High School in Orlando, Florida was where he attended high school.

He went to the University of Tennessee for his freshman year before returning to the University of Florida for his sophomore year. Johnny, his brother, is also a professional punter who attended the University of Florida and played there. On December 26, 2021, Johnny was hired as their punter for the Chiefs game, however, he is now a noncontractual player or free agent.

He finalized his first professional pass on a fake punt against with New York Jets on November 1 in the year 2020. It was a 13-yard completion that resulted in a first down. Townsend was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after landing three punts inside the 20-yard line with a long of 61 yards in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints.
