Following the 1995 and 1996 seasons, he helped lead the Packers to back-to-back NFC championships and an NFL championship in Super Bowl XXXI.
Johnny Holland’s Super Bowl Records: Super Bowl XXXI
AFC champion New England Patriots faced off against NFC champion Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXI to determine the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 1996 season. The game was played in Atlanta, Georgia, and was broadcast live on CBS.
When the Packers defeated the Patriots by a score of 35–21, they earned their third Super Bowl triumph overall and their first since Super Bowl II. The Packers also increased their league record for the most overall NFL championships to 12, breaking the previous mark of 11.
It was also the last of the NFC’s 13 straight Super Bowl victories over the AFC, which ended with this victory. The game took place on January 26, 1997, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was broadcast live on ESPN.
