After the Prime Minister was fined by the police for breaking lockdown rules, a justice minister resigned from the government.
Lord Wolfson said in a statement on Twitter that he could no longer serve in Boris Johnson’s government “with profound grief.”
He added that the “continuous rule-breaking and criminal law violations” in No 10 had prompted him to resign as justice minister.
In his resignation letter, he said the “scale, context and nature” of Covid breaches in government was inconsistent with the rule of law.
He added that he had “no option” other than to resign, given his “ministerial and professional obligations” in this area.
