Luis Fernando Patiño, simply known in baseball as Luis Patiño is a Colombian professional baseball pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team of the Major League Baseball(MLB). He previously played in MLB for the San Diego Padres baseball team.
He made his MLB debut on August 5, 2020, for the San Padres baseball team. He signed as an international free agent with the San Diego Padres in July 2016. In the 2017 baseball season, Luis was with the Dominican Summer League Padres and Arizona League Padres, going 4–2 with a 2.25 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) between the two clubs.
On August 4, 2020, was called up to the major leagues which was a day before he made his MLB debut. At the time, he was the youngest player in MLB. He appeared in eleven games in 2020.
On December 29, 2020, Luis was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Blake Snell. At the time of the trade, he was ranked the 23rd best prospect in baseball by MLB and a top 10 prospect by Fangraphs. Luis Patino was drafted in 2020. He ranked 7th among all right-handed pitching prospects.
