Meet Maurice Jones-Drew Touchdown record holder
Maurice Christopher Jones-Drew, better known by his nickname “MJD,” is a former American football running back who spent nine seasons in the NFL. He received unanimous All-American accolades while playing collegiate football for the UCLA Bruins.
Born March 23, 1985, Oakland, California, United States.
Jones-Drew, a 21-year-old running back, joined and was chosen as 60th overall in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars to eventually replace veteran Fred Taylor.
All 32 teams in the draft passed on him, with the majority blaming his height (5 ft 634 in, 169.5 cm) as the cause for his failure in the NFL. That is why he chose the number, he said on Sirius XM NFL Radio and the Dave Dameshek Football Show.
Maurice had a lot of success with the Jaguars and maintains a lot of records, including franchise leader in touchdowns (68), rushing yards in a single season (1,606), rushing touchdowns in a single season (68), and three of the top five single-season rushing marks for yards and touchdowns.
