Michael Hagerty was an American actor who was born on May 10, 1954 and died on April 29, 2022. His recurrent roles on Friends as a construction supervisor and as the manager of a muffler shop on HBO’s Lucky Louie solidified his reputation as a witty blue-collar worker.
Martin, Cheers, The Wayans Brothers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends, Seinfeld, and The Wonder Years were just a few of the iconic comedies in which Hagerty starred in minor roles.
He was also a regular on The George Carlin Show. His career as an actor began with The Second City. Despite having spent most of his career on television, he has acted in a handful of films in supporting parts. He was known for his thick Chicago accent and mustache.
Mike Hagerty, best remembered for his appearances on Somebody Somewhere, Mr. Treeger on Friends, and the gruff proprietor of a used-clothing store on Seinfeld, has died. Bridget Everett, who plays his daughter in the HBO sitcom, confirmed his death on April 29. There was no explanation offered.
“The family of Michael G. Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles with tremendous grief,” Everett posted on Instagram. “A beloved character actor, his love of his city of Chicago, as well as his family, were the pillars of his life.” He will be terribly missed.”
