The Jacksonville Jaguars have a short history in the NFL. That does not mean they haven’t had their fair share of superstars as they have legends like wide receiver Jimmy Smith and running back Fred Taylor.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional American football team based in Jacksonville, Florida. The Jaguars compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference South division. The team plays its home games at TIAA Bank Field.
Here are the best quarterbacks in the history of the Jaguars’ franchise
Chad Henne
Chad Hennes is one player who can never be forgotten when it comes to playing as a quarterback for the Jaguars as he has contributed very massively to the growth of the team.
During his five seasons at Jacksonville, Henne made 22 starts. The team was an abysmal 5-17 in that time.
Henne completed just 57.6% of his passes but did manage more touchdowns (27) than interceptions (26). He also threw for 5,817 yards which aren’t bad for the playing time he had.
Blake Bortles
Blake Bortles was also one great quarterback for the Jaguars who had not quite a great time but did his best to grant him the position as one of the best quarterbacks of the Jaguars.
During his stay at the club, Blake had thrown 18 interceptions, but he also threw for 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns and also had 17,649 yards and 103 touchdowns compared to 75 interceptions.
Byron Leftwich
Byron Leftwich is one of the originals. There was one quarterback before him that made a bigger impact, but Leftwich definitely left his mark.
Byron was said to have thrown for 9,042 yards and 51 touchdowns compared to 36 interceptions after completing only 58.7% of his passes.
Even tho Leftwich was prone to injuries which didn’t allow him to play all 16 games which were played in a season resulting in him not contributing much as he had a lot in him to give out to the team.
David Garrard
David Garrard is the quarterback that took over for Leftwich. He was selected in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft and played sparingly in his first few years.
David did even better than Leftwich as he completed 61.6% of his passes for 16,003 yards. He also had 89 touchdowns compared to just 54 interceptions.
He was said to have done what few quarterbacks in Jaguar can claim to have done as he even won a playoff game. Tho he wasn’t much of a runner, David had just 1,746 yards in that time.
Mark Brunell
Mark Brunnell after spending nine years in Jacksonville can be said to be one of the best quarterbacks as he was the only starter during his time with the team.
Mark completed 60.4% of his passes for 25,698 yards and 144 touchdowns compared to only 86 interceptions and ran for 2,219 yards and another 14 touchdowns on the ground.
