Chicago White Sox manager Anthony La Russsa Jr. is an American professional baseball coach and former player (MLB). In various positions, he’s been in the Major League Baseball since 1963. St. Louis Cardinals and Oakland Athletics both had him as their manager.
His teams won three World Series, six league crowns, and 13 divisional championships throughout his 33-year career as a coach. Only Connie Mack has won more big league games as a manager with 2,821.
He made his major league debut in 1963 and played for the Kansas City / Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Cubs during his career. His major level career ended in 1977 when he had a shoulder injury in the off-season of 1964–65. He spent the balance of his playing time in the minors. The next year, he obtained a Juris Doctor from Florida State University after completing his playing career.
By 1979, La Russa had been promoted to lead the White Sox to a World Series appearance and, four years later, an American League Championship Series victory.
