The Boston Red Sox are a major league baseball club in the United States situated in the city of Boston. The Red Sox is an American League (AL) team located in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Sox have called Fenway Park their home since 1912, when they became one of the league’s eight founder clubs.

For the Boston Red Sox, there have been 117 seasons of play. In 1903, they had their first season, and in 2021, they had their final season.

The Boston Americans were the team’s name from 1903 to 1907, when they were known as the Boston Americans.
The Boston Red Sox were the new moniker given to the team in 1908.

In 2021, the Boston Red Sox lost the AL Championship Series to the New York Yankees. In their 117-year history, they’ve made the playoffs 25 times.

The last time the Boston Red Sox missed the postseason was in the year 2020.

In 1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1946, 1967, 1975, 1986, 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018, the Boston Red Sox have appeared in the World Series on 13 separate occasions.

By 1918, the Red Sox had won four additional World Series victories and had established themselves as the dominating club in the new league.

It was an 86-year wait until the Red Sox won their sixth World Series, a drought that has been called “The Curse of the Bambino” because of the reputed origin of it, the Red Sox selling Babe Ruth to the rival New York Yankees two years after their world title in 1918.

A number of the most famous World Series events have occurred during this time period, including Enos Slaughter’s “crazy rush” in 1946, “Impossible Dream” in 1967, and “Carlton Fisk’s home run” in 1975.

They were the first team in the twenty-first century to win four World Series championships with their triumph in the 2018 World Series. They previously won titles in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018.

One of the most storied rivalries in professional sports in the United States is between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
