Which College And High School Did Lou Anarumo Attend?

Lou Anarumo attended  Susan E. Wagner High school in the ’70s and went on to Wagner College where he earned a degree in special education.

Anarumo began his college career after graduation by working as a part-time running backs coach at the United States Merchant Marine Academy for the 1989 season.

Anarumo coached with Joe Philbin (offensive line coach) during his brief time with the academy, and Philbin went on to hire Anarumo for his first NFL job.

Anarumo was hired as a graduate assistant by Syracuse University and head coach Paul Pasqualoni for the 1990 and 1991 seasons, following two brief stints at smaller colleges.

Under the direction of Phil Elmassian, he served as an assistant defensive backs coach, assisting with film analysis and organizing the Orange’s scout team.

Anarumo returned to the Merchant Marine Academy in 1992 after completing his graduate assistantship to serve as the school’s defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for three seasons.

He also acted as the athletics department’s admissions liaison in addition to coaching.

Anarumo spent another three seasons at the Merchant Marine Academy before joining Harvard as an assistant head coach from 1995 to 2000, where he worked closely with the defensive backs and special teams.

Anarumo worked with Philbin for two seasons while coaching at Harvard. During his six years at Harvard, the team’s greatest season was 1997, when they went 9-1 overall and 7-0 in league play.
