Darryl Anthony Tapp (born September 13, 1984) is a retired American football defensive end and outside linebacker who played in the National Football League for twelve seasons (NFL).
He is currently with the San Francisco 49ers as an assistant defensive line coach. He was picked in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks after playing collegiate football at Virginia Tech.
Tapp has spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, among others.

Tapp began his college career at Virginia Tech as a true freshman in 2002, primarily on special teams. He scored his first collegiate touchdown against Virginia when he returned a punt blocked by Justin Hamilton for a touchdown.
He has nine solo tackles and 12 assists on the season, as well as three quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. During the spring, Tapp set a position record for defensive ends with a 660-pound back squat.
He also had a 415-pound bench press and a 340-pound push jerk, a 530-pound back squat, a 3212-inch vertical jump, and a 4.71 40-yard sprint time.
He had 58 total tackles in 2003, including nine tackles for loss, three sacks, 17 quarterback hurries, and a forced fumble.
Tapp won the starting job as the boundary defensive end in 2004, taking over for Nathaniel Adibi.

He started all thirteen games as a senior in 2005, totaling 48 tackles (14.5 for losses) and ten sacks, earning him First-Team All-ACC honors once more. In 2018, he was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame for his contributions to the Hokies.
