Which College Did Rick Burkholder Attend?

Rick Burkholder Studied at the University of Pittsburgh and had his  Bachelor of Science in 1987 and went on to do his  Master of Science at the University of Arizona in 1989.

As an assistant athletic trainer with the Pittsburgh Steelers for six seasons and as an assistant football athletic trainer at his alma school, the University of Pittsburgh, he gained extensive experience in sports training.

To get a master’s degree in athletic training, Burkholder proceeded to the University of Arizona, where he worked as a graduate assistant and as an assistant sports trainer for two seasons.

In 1986, while working as a summer intern for the New England Patriots’ training department, Burkholder had his first taste of the NFL. A long-time athletic trainer at Carlisle High School and his mother, a licensed nurse, were major influences on him.

Rick Burkholder received the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Society Distinguished Merit Award in 2013 after previously receiving the Carlisle High School Distinguished Alumni Award in 2003.

During his time at the University of Kansas Health System Training Complex in 2013, he participated in a football safety clinic for moms.

The University of Kansas Health System Sports Medicine and Performance Center has invited him to speak on concussions and heat and hydration in the Kansas City area.

When Burkholder helped secure funding from both the NFL Foundation and the Hunt Family Foundation for KC United, a local youth football league currently without medical insurance, the Chiefs and the University of Kansas Health System will be able to provide athletic training coverage to the organization.
