Alex Okafor (born February 8, 1991) is an American football defensive end who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He was born in Chicago, Illinois (NFL). Originally from Arizona, he was selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He went on to play collegiate football at Texas, where he was named to the All-American team as a junior.
Okafor’s parents, a Nigerian father, and an African-American mother met while working in Dallas, Texas.
Along with soccer and basketball, he was an all-star in all three of those sports. In 2008, during his senior season, he was named to the USA Today All-American high school football team.
He is said to have been recognized as a high school All-American in 2008 by USA Today during his senior season after finishing his 2011 junior season with 46 tackles and seven quarterback sacks, and was named a first-team All-American as a defensive end by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
