The Carolina Panthers are a North Carolina-based professional football team. As a member of the NFL’s National Football Conference South division, the Panthers compete in the National Football League.
The team’s headquarters and home field are both located at Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte. Although the Panthers have played their home games in Charlotte since 1996, they began their career in Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.
Wofford College, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, holds the team’s annual training camp. It is one of only two teams that represents multiple states, along with the New England Patriots.
Owners Of The Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were named as the league’s 29th club in 1993, and they began to play in 1995 under Jerry Richardson, the team’s original owner and founder.
Panthers founder Jerry Richardson sold the franchise to David Tepper for $2.2 billion in the summer of 2018, setting an NFL record. Since Tepper became the team’s owner, there has been much conjecture over whether he will keep the team in Charlotte and build a new stadium there or transfer the team to Rock Hill, South Carolina and build a new stadium there.
The Carolina Panthers will remain the NFC’s newest team since 2021. Panther Football, LLC is the formal name of the team, and it is owned by David Tepper, whose purchase of the team from founder Jerry Richardson was overwhelmingly authorized by league owners on May 22, 2018.
According to Forbes, the club is now worth roughly US$2.3 billion.
