Coach Alex Whittingham Biography
Alex Whittingham is a defensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League (NFL). He has been with the team since 2020. He began his career with the Chiefs in 2018 as the team’s defensive assistant coach.
Whittingham spent the majority of his time in 2020 working with a linebacking unit that had 3.0 sacks and 245 tackles. Whittingham worked with the defensive line in 2019, including Pro Bowl DT Chris Jones and DE Frank Clark, who had 9.0 and 8.0 sacks, correspondingly, on the squad.
Whittingham worked extensively with the outside linebackers throughout the 2018 season, including fifth-year LB Dee Ford, who was matched for first in the NFL with All-Pro DE J.J. Watt with seven forced fumbles and achievement of 13.0 sacks.
He was a walk-on for the Utes from Salt Lake City, collecting four letters, and played in 44 games from 2013 to 2017. He was a part of the kick return team and handled short snaps for the entire 2017 season and long snaps for the first four games. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic team three times with honorable mention.
