James Bettcher Biography
Football coach James Bettcher is from the United States. He formerly worked for the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants as a defensive coordinator. He was born on 27 May 1978.
Bettcher started his identification of training needs in 2004 as the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator for Saint Francis (IN). After that, he worked as a graduate assistant at Bowling Green, then at North Carolina, Ball State, and New Hampshire.
Bettcher was hired by the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL after coaching at many universities. When Bruce Arians were the Colts’ temporary head coach, he coached under him.
Bettcher accompanied Arians to the Cardinals when he was promoted as head coach. Bettcher was promoted to replace defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, who departed to become head coach of the New York Jets.
The New York Giants signed Bettcher as defensive coordinator under head coach Pat Shurmur on January 23, 2018. New Giants head coach Joe Judge did not rehire Betcher for the 2020 season, instead of hiring Patrick Graham.
