Who Is Coach Tom Melvin?

Tom Melvin is the tight ends coach for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs.

Tom Melvin Biography

Tom Melvin was born in Redwood City, California. Bob Melvin, his cousin, is the general manager of the San Diego Padres.

Melvin lettered in football and soccer at Ellwood P. Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, California. In 1979, he graduated from Cubberley High School.

Melvin was an offensive lineman at San Francisco State University, where he played football. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the university.

While coaching at Northern Arizona University, he received a master’s degree in educational administration.

Melvin joined the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff in 1999 and worked as an offensive assistant/quality control coach for three seasons before being promoted to tight ends coach.

Melvin’s first Super Bowl victory came in 2019 when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV.
