Greatest Giant Lawrence Taylor
Lawrence Taylor of the New York Giants is probably the greatest football player of all time. During an era when defenses ruled, he was routinely the most formidable player on the field.
Lawrence Julius Taylor, also known by his moniker “L.T.,” is an American former professional football player and convicted sex offender who played linebacker for the New York Giants in the National Football League for his whole tenure.
Taylor finished his career with 1,089 tackles, 132.5 sacks (not including the 9.5 sacks he had as a rookie because sacks were not officially recognized until 1982), nine interceptions, 134 return yards, two touchdowns, 33 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries, and 34 fumble return yards, and 33 pass breakups.
Lawrence Taylor was the first of Clarence and Iris Taylor’s three sons born in Williamsburg, Virginia. His dad worked at the Newport News shipyards as a dispatch, while his mother was a schoolteacher. Taylor, known to his family as Lonnie, was a mischievous adolescent. “He was a difficult child,” his mother claimed.
