Who Is The New Owner Of Chelsea FC After Roman Abramovich?
Currently, there hasn’t been a new Owner yet but Two Americans according to sources are leading the race to buy.
Sources close to the process said as many as eight multi-billionaires were being sounded out about their appetite to buy the club at a time when Abramovich faces the possibility of being sanctioned by the UK Government after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian is said to have turned down an offer of £2.5bn for the club from an unidentified third party earlier this week, with bids of £3bn or more expected to be taken seriously.
The Raine Group, Abramovich’s advisers, were due to send letters to potential bidders on Wednesday, with an indicative bid deadline set for mid-March.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the founder of Ineos, and Todd Boehly, an American businessman, were both interested in a deal, but it was unclear whether either was still interested.
Raine Group also contacted a number of people, some of whom are believed to be from the United States and others from Asia.
The sale of Chelsea, according to Roman Abramovich, “will not be rushed, but will follow due to protocol.”
“This has never been about business or money for me,” Abramovich stated, “but about genuine enthusiasm for the game and club.”
