The Toronto Blue Jays are a baseball team headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Blue Jays are a part of the American League’s (AL) East division in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Due to border limitations imposed by the COVID-19 epidemic, the club played its home games in TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida in April and May of 2021, then Sahlen Field in Buffalo, New York in June and July of 2021, before restoring to Rogers Centre on July 30.

From 1979 through 1999, the team’s mascot was BJ Birdy. Ace and Diamond, two new characters took BJ’s position in the 2000 season. At the end of the 2003 season, Diamond was retired, leaving Ace as the single mascot. Ace has been accompanied by Junior on occasion in recent years. On “Junior Jays Sundays,” originally “Junior Jays Saturdays,” this occurs.

Ace is the Toronto Blue Jays’ official mascot. Just before the 2002 season, he and his female counterpart, “Diamond,” succeeded former mascot BJ Birdy as a mascot duet. Ace, like his predecessor, has the appearance of a huge blue jay. Baseball lingo for a team’s top starting pitcher is the mascot’s name.

Following the removal of Diamond by the Blue Jays prior to the beginning of the season in 2004, Ace became the team’s single mascot. Junior, his younger brother, made his debut for the Blue Jays in 2011.
