The Oakland Athletics has won 17 Al West Division titles so far, including 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1981, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2012, 2013, and 2020 seasons.
The American League West is one of three divisions that make up the American League in Major League Baseball. As of the 2013 season, there are five clubs in the division, however, there were four teams from 1994 to 2012, and there were as many as seven teams before the 1994 restructuring of the league.
Despite the fact that the division’s clubs are now exclusively based on the west coast and in Texas, the league has traditionally featured teams as far east as Chicago. In the Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1998 to 2012, the AL West was the only division with four clubs (the NL West had five teams at the time).
The Oakland Athletics are the current champions of the American League West. The Houston Astros moved from the National League Central to the American League West in 2013. As a result of this shift, all six Major League Baseball divisions have an equal number of clubs, and both leagues have an equal number of teams.
The Athletics are a part of the American League West division. The squad calls the Oakland Coliseum home. The Athletics have won nine World Series titles.
