At some point throughout each season, there has been some reference to their amateur forebearers in the Athletic jerseys. The team’s name did not appear on either the home or away outfits until 1954 when “Athletics” was scripted across the front of the uniforms. The Green, White, and Gold has been the Oaklands Athletics colors
Neither the city’s name nor the letter “P” appeared anywhere on the player’s uniform. An “A” in script was generally all that was on the left front of the Philadelphia Eagles’ standard jersey and cap. In line with long-standing practice, the American League’s standings initially referred to the team as “Athletic” rather than “Philadelphia.” As with other major league teams, the team’s name was eventually changed to reflect the city in which it was based.
“Athletics” is written in script on home jerseys, while “Oakland” is written in script on away uniforms, with the hat logo consisting of the conventional “A” surrounded by “apostrophe-s”.
The A’s wear all-kelly green hats with the “A’s” emblem in white, and they’re combined with a kelly green hat with a gold brim in games wearing the alternative kelly green jerseys. Road hats used to be green with a green brim before the black A’s helmets emerged in 2009.
New jerseys featuring “A’s” in green on the left breast, which was popular with fans but rarely worn by players, were introduced in 2011. Except for a few away games, the Athletics used their gold home alternative uniforms for the 2011 season. In 2019, it was replaced with the team’s alternative kelly green uniforms.
