Bruce S. Sherman is an American entrepreneur and the head and principal owner of the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball. He is also the co-founder of the wealth management firm Private Capital Management.
Sherman, the son of Sylvia and Michael Sherman, was born in a middle Queens neighborhood. His mother worked in a school in a public school in New York City. Peter and Joel are two of his brothers. With a B.A. in hand, he is now ready to take on the world.
He graduated from the University of Rhode Island and Baruch College with an M.B.A. He served for Arthur Young after college and was hired as the chief financial officer of a business owned by the Collier family at the age of 29 by an executive search firm.
Sherman led a $1.2 billion proposal to buy the Miami Marlins from Jeffrey Loria in August 2017, which included Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter. Sherman is the team’s main owner and chairman at the moment.
