Buck Martinez is the Announcer for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Buck Martinez is an American former catcher and manager in professional baseball and presently serves as the Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster for the team’s television play-by-play coverage.

After managing the Blue Jays for the first time since 2002, Buck Martinez is back in the broadcast booth for his 12th season. Including his time as a player, broadcaster, and manager. The 72-year old brings 54 years of baseball expertise to the table.

He was a 17-year veteran of the Major League Baseball (MLB), having played for the Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, and Toronto Blue Jays during his career. Since his playing days were over, he’s worked as a baseball announcer for the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles, as well as for TBS and MLB Network on a national level.

In 1987, he was hired by TSN as a color commentator for the Toronto Blue Jays, where he remained until 1999. During his time with the network, he was won a Sports EMMY Award for his coverage of Cal Ripken’s 2,131st consecutive game broadcast in 1995.

From 2001 to May 2002, he served as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, and in 2006, as head coach of Team USA at the first World Baseball Classic in Japan.

This eventually led to a position with TSN, where he was originally teamed with Fergie Olver. A five-year contract extension for Toronto’s play-by-play announcer was announced by Rogers on September 25, 2014.
