Elijah I. Mitchell (born May 2, 1998) is an American football running back for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers. He was a football player at Louisiana State University.

Mitchell attended Erath High School in Erath, Louisiana, where he played high school football. Despite only playing in eight games as a senior due to injuries, he carried for 1,903 yards and 28 touchdowns. Mitchell rushed for 4,045 yards and 50 touchdowns on 457 carries in three seasons as Erath’s starting running back.

Mitchell attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and played collegiate football for his native state of Louisiana. Mitchell broke a bone in his foot as a freshman and missed the rest of the season after rushing for 257 yards and four touchdowns on 42 carries.

He was named Second-Team All-Sun Belt Conference as a sophomore after rushing for 977 yards and 13 touchdowns and catching 20 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns. Mitchell was voted second-team All-Sun Belt after rushing for 1,147 yards and 16 touchdowns in his junior season.

Mitchell was voted first-team All-Sun Belt in his final season with the Cajuns after rushing the ball 141 times for 878 yards and eight touchdowns while also catching 16 passes for additional 153 yards. Mitchell appeared in 42 games in college, rushing for 3,267 yards and 41 touchdowns on 527 carries. He also caught 49 receptions for 597 yards and five scores.
