As a household name in the Major League Baseball (MLB), the Astros were set up as the Houston Colt .45s and entered the National League as a development group in 1962 alongside the New York Mets.

The Astros highlight eleven complete workforces who have been accepted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, two Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award champs, four Cy Young Award victors, and three Rookie of the Year Award champs.
Two players have won a yearly batting title, while eight pitchers have driven the association in acquired run normal (ERA).
