Kyle Howard Long, a pro football guard for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League, was born on December 5, 1988.
He played collegiate football at Oregon after stints at Florida State and Saddleback. He is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end Howie Long and the younger brother of former defensive end Chris Long. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, where he spent his first seven seasons.
Long earned three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2013 to 2015 with the Bears and one second-team All-Pro selection in 2014. He returned to the Chiefs in 2021 after retiring in 2019.
Long left Florida State in January 2009 for academic reasons following a DWI offense. Long returned to football in 2010 after enrolling at Saddleback College, a community college in Mission Viejo, California. He started at defensive end in his rookie year, earning 16 tackles and one QB sack. In 2011, he made the offensive line his primary position.
He committed to play football for the Oregon Ducks on December 18, 2011, and then transferred to the University of Oregon. He started six of the Ducks’ twelve games on the offensive line in 2012. He appealed to the NCAA for an additional year of collegiate eligibility, but his appeal was denied.
