1. Dave Casper
At the tight end for the Raiders, Casper caught 226 catches for 2,918 yards and 28 touchdowns in his first four years as a starter. On the final play of the 1976 season, Kenny Stabler threw a 42-yard pass directly over Casper’s head to set up a game-tying field goal, and Casper caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Stabler to seal the win, 37-31.
2. Todd Christensen
BYU fullback Christensen was selected in the second round of the 1978 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys (No. 56 overall). After being cut after just two games, Christensen found work as a free agent in 1979 with the Raiders, who planned to use him as a tight end.
He agreed to the transfer and had a solid first season in 1982, hauling in 42 passes for 510 yards and four touchdowns, before going off the charts the next year with 92 catches for 1,247 yards and 12 scores.
His final seven seasons in the NFL saw him catch 453 receptions for 5,757 yards and 39 touchdowns, as well as 31 balls for 358 yards and a touchdown in eight postseason games.
3. Raymond Chester
At No. 24 overall in the 1970 NFL Draft, Chester was picked by the Oakland Raiders and started his first season as a starter.
His first trip to the Pro Bowl and NFL Rookie of the Year honors earned him a spot in the All-Pro team. Chester caught 104 catches for 1,574 yards and 22 touchdowns in his first three seasons with Oakland.
4. Darren Waller
In his first season as a starter, Waller hauled in 90 passes for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns, and he followed that up with 107 catches for 1,196 yards and seven more scores to lead all NFL wide receivers.
Waller has accumulated 215 receptions for 2,519 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career.
5. Zach Miller
Miller has 226 receptions for 2,712 yards and 12 touchdowns in only four seasons with the Raiders, putting him in the top 20 all-time list of the team’s leading receivers.
But he caught 44 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie season and was named to the NFL All-Rookie team by the Pro Football Writers of America.
It was in 2009 that Miller had his best season with the Raiders, when he caught 65 passes for 805 yards and three touchdowns. In 2010, after making 60 receptions for 685 yards and five touchdowns, he was named to the Pro Bowl.
