Orlando Claude Brown Sr. (November 12, 1970 – September 23, 2011) was an offensive tackle with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns in the National Football League. Howard D. Woodson High School was his alma mater. At South Carolina State University, he played collegiate football for Willie Jeffries. “Zeus” was his nickname.
In 1993, Orlando Brown joined as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns. He was with the Browns for three seasons.
The Browns team was relocated to Baltimore by owner Art Modell in 1996, and the Baltimore Ravens were born. Brown gained the nickname “Zeus” during his first stint with the Ravens, where he was noted for being an enthusiastic and frightening player at 6-foot-7, 360 pounds. He was one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in the NFL during his time.
Brown moved into the restaurant business after retiring from football and became the first Fatburger franchise owner in Maryland.
Brown was taken into custody with third-degree burglary and property destruction in September 2009. Later, the charges were dropped.
Brown was discovered dead in his Baltimore townhouse on September 23, 2011. Brown died of diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition characterized by high blood sugar and a lack of insulin, according to the state medical examiner.
