Trent Sherfield (born February 26, 1996) is an American football wide receiver for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers. He was a Vanderbilt University football player.
Sherfield finished his Vanderbilt career with 136 receptions for 1,869 yards, which placed him ninth in both categories in school history. He collected 50 receptions for 729 yards and five touchdowns as a senior captain, which was a team and career-high.
On May 9, 2018, Sherfield signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent. Sherfield scored a touchdown after recovering a blocked punt in a preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on August 23, 2018.
He grabbed two catches for 44 yards against the Denver Broncos a week later. Sherfield appeared in 13 games as a rookie, starting two, and recording 19 receptions for 210 yards and one score.
The Cardinals placed Sherfield on the reserve/COVID-19 list on November 27, 2020, and he was activated on December 2.
On March 19, 2021, Sherfield signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Sherfield was officially named on the 49ers 53-man roster for the 2021 season after a preseason performance of 5 receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown across three games.
