Sonny William Williams, a former professional rugby league and rugby union player from New Zealand is a heavyweight boxer.

He is one of just 21 players to have won the Rugby World Cup twice, and he is only the second person to represent New Zealand in rugby union after first representing the country in rugby league.

Williams began his rugby league career with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Sydney Roosters, where he spent eight seasons as a second-row forward in three seasons with the NRL’s Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters.

He has 12 caps for New Zealand (the Kiwis) and was named Rookie of the Year in 2004 and International Player of the Year in 2013.

He has also won the RLIF Awards for Rookie of the Year and International Player of the Year. In Super League, he played for the Toronto Wolfpack in 2020 before joining the Sydney Roosters the following year.

He began his rugby union career in 2010 with Toulon in France, Canterbury, Counties Manukau, the Crusaders, Chiefs, and Blues in New Zealand, and the Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan.

He has 58 caps for New Zealand (the All Blacks) and was a member of the 2011 and 2015 World Cup-winning teams. He also competed in the 2015–16 World Rugby Sevens Series and the 2016 Olympics for New Zealand in rugby sevens.

In March 2021, he announced his retirement from both rugby codes.

Williams has fought seven times professionally, winning all of his heavyweight fights.

He was the Heavyweight Champion of the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association (NZPBA) and the International Heavyweight Champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), but his titles were stripped when he failed to react to challenges.
