Dave Van Horne and Glenn Geffner are the play-by-play Announcers for the Marlins.
Dave Van Horne
For the previous 32 years of his broadcasting career, Van Horne worked with the Montreal Expos, 14 of which he shared alongside Duke Snider as a play-by-play announcer.
He joined the Miami Marlins Radio Network in 2001. He received the Jack Graney Award from the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame for “a lifetime of media achievement” in 1996. On June 21, 2014, he and former Montreal Expos general manager Murray Cook, as well as third baseman Tim Wallach, were inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame.
Glenn Geffner
His 31st season in professional baseball as both a broadcaster and front office executive, Miami native Glenn Geffner will be in his 15th year in 2022 as a Marlin radio broadcaster and his 26th in the Major Leagues.
To have worked at every level of the baseball play-by-play, Geffner, who worked for the Boston Red Sox and the San Diego Padres before returning to South Florida in 2008, is an extremely unusual accomplishment.
There are six no-hitters in his broadcast resume, one of which being Roy Halladay’s perfect game in 2010, and he also covered Ichiro Suzuki’s 3,000th career hit in 2016.
He has worked alongside two Baseball Hall of Fame broadcasters, 2011 Ford C. Frick Award winner Dave Van Horne with the Marlins and Jerry Coleman with the Padres, over the course of his broadcasting career.
