Known professionally as Willie Gay Jr., he is an American football linebacker who currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He was a member of the Mississippi State University football team. In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected him as the 63rd overall pick.
Gay received his education at Starkville High School, which is located in Starkville, Mississippi. He took part in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. He is committed to playing college football for Mississippi State University.
Gay was a member of the Mississippi State football team from 2017 to 2019. In his first season as a junior, he appeared in only five games and was absent for eight others due to suspension.
After the season, he declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, skipping his senior season in order to do so. Over the course of his career, he had 99 tackles, six sacks, three interceptions, and scored a TD.
