The Titans of New York were created in 1959 as an original member of the American Football League (AFL), and eventually joined the NFL after the AFL–NFL merger in 1970. The Polo Grounds hosted the team’s first game in 1960.
The current name was adopted in 1963 under new ownership, and the team relocated to Shea Stadium in 1964, then to the Meadowlands Sports Complex in 1984.

Donald Rogers Maynard is a retired professional American football player who played for the New York Giants and St. Louis Cardinals in the National Football League, the New York Jets in the American Football League, and the Shreveport Steamer in the World Football League. Born on 25, January 1935, Crosbyton, Texas, United States.
Maynard was born and raised in Texas. Don attended 13 schools, including five high schools, because his father was a cotton merchant and the family was always relocating. He was labeled in football, basketball, and track as a senior at Colorado City High School in Colorado City, Texas.
Maynard was one of only 20 players who played in the AFL for the full 10-year period, and one of only seven players who spent their entire AFL career with the same team. Maynard had 633 receptions for 11,834 yards and 88 touchdowns in his career.
He has the most yardage per catch of anyone with at least 600 receptions, at 18.7 yards per catch. Maynard was the very first receiver to exceed 10,000 yards and retired as the all-time top receiver in pro football, a record he held until Charlie Joiner overtook him in 1986.
