Drew Brees is the best New Orleans Saints quarterback of all time.
The facts and figures speak for themselves. Incredible to think that you can rack up 13,910 yards in just three seasons. In addition to having the best passer rating of any Saints quarterback in franchise history (93.8), he was one pass away from breaking Dan Marino’s single-season passing yardage record of 5,084 yards with a total of 5,069 yards.
Brees has a total of 88 touchdowns and 46 interceptions in his career. In addition, he guided the Saints to their lone NFC Championship Game appearance in 2006.
Drew Christopher Brees is an American football quarterback who spent 20 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Brees spent most of his career with the New Orleans Saints and is second in the NFL in touchdown passes, passing yards, completions, and attempts. He also broke Johnny Unitas’ 52-year record of consecutive touchdown passes.
Brees set Big Ten Conference marks for completions, attempts, and yards while at Purdue. Despite his collegiate achievements, the San Diego Chargers drafted him in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft due to height and arm strength concerns.
Then came his breakout season in 2004, which earned him Pro Bowl and Comeback Player of the Year honors. After signing a one-year contract, Brees suffered a potentially career-ending injury, and the Chargers let him go in free agency. Prior to his arrival, the Saints had only seven winning seasons, five playoff berths, and one playoff win in 39 years. The Saints won nine playoff games, seven division titles (including four straight from 2017 to 2020), three NFC Championship Games, and their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XLIV.
