The Astros’ most well-known players from their heyday are Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio. These are the greatest Astros players of all time. Craig Biggio, on the other hand, is the most renowned of all thanks to his performance at Minute Maid Park and the positive impact he had on the crowd.
Each of his 20 seasons with the Houston Astros, Biggio virtually always hit at least 15 home runs and snagged at least 20 stolen bases. The 20-year career of Biggio included seven All-Star appearances, a four-time Golden Glove Award, and a five-time Silver Slugger Award.
Throughout his two-decade career, Biggio was a reliable performer who could do it all. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1991 and NL MVP in 1994. Astros fans will always remember him as one of the team’s greatest players. Biggio, who spent most of his 20-year career in Houston, has a lifetime batting average of over 3,000.
It is this accomplishment plus his reputation as one of the greatest players in Astros history that earned him induction into both the Astros Hall of Fame and the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a player for the Astros. From 1993 through the conclusion of his career, Biggio stole at least 97 bases and hit at least 15 home runs each season from 1997 to 1998.
