According to the records of Volusia County, Florida, AEW’s Jeff Hardy was booked today June 13 on three charges: violating restrictions placed on his driver’s license; driving with a suspended or revoked license, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. All of these charges were related to his alleged involvement in a traffic accident.
The most recent one is his third charge of this nature in the past ten years. The former WWE champion, who is now 44 years old, has a significant history of addiction.
It was assumed that this was the reason he stormed out during a house show bout the previous year, which led to WWE giving an ultimatum that he get therapy or he will be dismissed from his contract with the company.
Both Hardy and his brother Matt maintained after he had left the company, that the incident was not the result of a relapse. They stated that the drug tests that Jeff had taken at the time came back negative for drugs.
Jeff has not participated in any matches for AEW since the Double or Nothing pay-per-view event one month ago, during which he is believed to have had a concussion.
On the upcoming episode of Dynamite, which airs on Wednesday, he and Matt will compete in a ladder match for the AEW Tag Team championship against Jurassic Express.
Neither AEW nor the Hardys have made any comments regarding the event that occurred this morning.
