Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. In Christianity, this is a significant event since it represents Jesus Christ’s sacrifices and suffering.
Christians honor Jesus Christ’s death, even if it was a painful experience because they believe he died for their sins and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Good Friday falls on April 15 this year. After being betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas, Jesus was apprehended and placed on trial for claiming to be the ruler of the Jews, according to the Bible.
He was sentenced to death by crucifixion and had to carry his cross up a hill while wearing a thorny crown. At the time, crucifixion was the cruelest form of execution. After putting Jesus on the cross, the soldiers just left him to die.
The night before Jesus Christ died, he and his followers attended the Last Supper and then traveled to the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus spent his dying hours praying to the Father while his followers slept close.
On Good Friday, Christians attend special church services. To remember Christ’s final hours, many people participate in parades or open-air dramas.
While many Christians attend Good Friday church services, they also read Bible verses at home and ponder on Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. For Christians, Good Friday is one of the holiest days of the year, followed by Easter.
Easter will be held on Sunday, April 17th this year.
