The Atalanta Falcons does not retire Jersey numbers but currently, they have four Jersey numbers that will not be worn again.
These jersey numbers include 10 (Steve Bartkowski), 31 (Williams Andrews), 57 (Jeff Van Note), and 60 (Tommy Nobis).
Steve Bartkowski’s Contributions To Atlanta Falcons
Despite playing in a strong NFC West division that included the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, Bartkowski led the Falcons to the playoffs three times during his 11 seasons in Atlanta. In 1978, he led the Falcons to their first playoff appearance and win, a 14-13 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. It is of no doubt that he has really played a role in the team’s history. He was honored with the Davey O’Brien Legends Award in 2020.
Williams Andrews’ Contributions To Atlanta Falcons
Until his career was cruelly cut short due to a knee injury, William Andrews was one of the most feared runners in the NFL. Andrews was a key part of the Falcons’ 12-4 record and a first-place finish in the NFC West division in 1980. He ran for 1,308 yards on 51 carries, averaging 4.9 yards per attempt, and caught 51 receptions for 456 yards.
Jeff Van Note’s Contributions To Atlanta Falcons
Only Mike Kenn (251) and Jeff Van Note (246) played more games in the Atlanta Falcons’ history so far, and they shared the offensive line for nine years. Van Note played center after being picked in the 11th round of the 1969 NFL Draft, and he only missed four games due to injury during his 18-year career (all with Atlanta).
Tommy Nobis’ Contributions To Atlanta Falcons
In nine of his 11 seasons with the Falcons, he led the team in tackles and was twice selected All-Pro (first team in 1967 and second team in 1968). Nobis was later chosen to the NFL’s 1960s All-Decade Team.
