According to the UK’s Health Security Agency, the number of monkeypox cases in the country’s population has risen since prior evidence indicated that the virus had previously been transmitted among the community (UKHSA).

Rodents in Central and West Africa are assumed to be the source of monkeypox, which has now spread to humans. Cases outside of Africa are extremely rare and have thus far been attributed to diseased travelers or animals that have been imported.

A milder strain of the virus, known as the West African clade, infected everyone in the United Kingdom, according to the World Health Organization.

Fever, headache, aching limbs, and exhaustion are all symptoms of a viral illness. Blisters and pustules that resemble smallpox appear one to three days after exposure and gradually crust up.

According to reports from the UKHSA, a significant number of those who are sick in the United Kingdom are guys who have intercourse with other men and become infected in London.
